    workshop overview | FREE...PLAY...this is the core message of all my workshops. you'll cultivate your creative soul while experimenting with mark-making, color explorations and book-binding.  During this workshop, you'll build a one-of-a-kind art journal with painted fabrics and papers wrapped with an embellished fiber spine. Explore printmaking, color studies, doodling, collage and bookmaking. The art journal is a space to spill your dreams, hopes, fears and ideas. You'll spend time creating personal graffiti and embark on a photo excursion journey. Each day is full of guided instruction and an optional evening OPEN studio session. Join me for an artful weekend of mixed media PLAY at my studio!

    WORKSHOP COST: $697 USD {cost includes ALL supplies, collage kit including my new artist papers, mark-making tool kit} lunch and snacks provided sat, continental breakfast on sun. CLASS size is limited, so register early!

    9:30am - studio opens
    10:00am-12:30 ~ class
    12:30pm -1:30pm ~ 1 hour lunch
    1:30pm - 4:00pm ~ class
    4:30pm ~ 5:30pm ~ downtown danville photo excursion {optional}

    printmaking + textured canvas~ We'll kick off the workshop making handmade tools including stamps, stencils and custom paintbrushes, then explore simple printmaking techniques without a press to create acrylic skins and colorful mixed media fabrics and papers. You'll start to create textured your own textured "canvas" journal covers from layers of fabrics and papers. We'll take a walk around town to check out some of the artsy boutiques and take a photo excursion in downtown Danville. I'll give tips on photography using the iPhone/iPad, working with various apps to create digital images and ideas on how to incorporate your explorations into your art journal. lunch and snacks will be provided.

    Doodles Unleashed {doodling + face collage} Throughout the weekend we'll explore techniques from my book Doodles Unleashed and I'll showcase how to use them on page for your journal pages. I'll share technique demonstrations in mark-making, lettering and talk about how to digitally leverage your artwork. We'll continue to work on paintings from the previous day and explore mixed media techniques including collage + doodling. You'll work with a variety of art supplies and materials to create pages for your art journal and begin book construction. The optional evening art journaling OPEN studio gives you the opportunity to play with all the studio supplies and create in your journal. The OPEN studio is not a teaching session but you are able to use all the studio supplies to work on projects. Lunch, snacks & afternoon tea will be provided.

    artJOURNAL LOVE {exploration + book binding} During the final day of the workshop, we'll continue to build the journals creating the fiber embellished binding. Throughout the day we'll explore creative prompts and art journaling exercises. pastries and tea will be provided.
