Join me, Traci Bautista, as I share a peek inside my painting studio and creative process. In this video, I take you on an artwork tour of my idea sketches for my abstract landscape collection and talk through my current body of work that I have been painting over the past few months.

I've been incorporating Williamsburg oil paint into my mixed media artwork and been loving the results. However, I also share the struggles and things that don't work as I explore oil painting experiments with my art.

Many of the pieces start with layers of #tracibautistaCOLOR products, including handmade watercolors and inks along with my pigment bars, and then I incorporate the oils. Throughout the video, I discuss my creative process, including how I choose my color palette, how I build up layers of paint and share a number of abstract background ideas.

As I create a body of artwork, I usually write or record Studio Notes videos where I talk through my creative process and what I worked on in the studio that day. Sometimes these videos include ideas, thoughts, and how I'm feeling about the work. I also talk about the materials and techniques I have played with, along with next steps for my project.

I encourage you to incorporate Studio Notes into your creative practice for yourself as you work on a collection or develop a body of work. They are a great resource to reference especially if your collection development spans several months. It’s always nice to refer back to them or use them to share your process on social media.
