mixed media painting with #tracibautistaCOLOR PIGMENT BARS

Hey creative friends! Welcome to #tracibautistacolor! In this video, I share a abstract mix media painting as I am using my brand new handcrafted artisanal PIGMENT BARS. These are highly pigmented and creamy wax paint that is perfect to use over mixed media, watercolors, pigment stones and more!

Inside my inspiration sketchbook, this page started with a mixed media background created using Golden Gesso and Super Matte Medium mixed with my handcrafted watercolors and pigment stones. Once the background is dry, I build layers of colors with my AUTUMN PIGMENT BARS 🍂 collection. The bars are perfect for adding color and texture over your paintings.

The clear blender bar can be used to mix colors and smooth them on to the page. The PIGMENT BARS are super versatile and fun to paint with. To fix the paint, I recommend using SpectraFix spray. Spray 4-5 light even layers over the artwork, waiting about 3-5 minutes between each coat.

Alternatively, you could melt beeswax or encaustic paint over the top and apply heat to “seal” the wax paint. Another option is to use parchment or wax paper in between your journal pages to prevent the wax from adhere to the opposite page.

The PIGMENT BARS have a beautiful, creamy consistency and deposit a lot of color. They can be used as a resist with watercolor and brushed through stencils plus a plethora of mixed media techniques.

Each quarter, I create limited edition collections of handcrafted artisanal paints & inks. Make sure to join my VIP COLLECTORS CLUB email list to be the first to know when new paints are available.

Thanks for watching!! 🥰 xo~Traci

#tracibautistaCOLOR FOREVER chasing sunsets handcrafted artisanal watercolor

Created with the mixed media artist in mind, the PIGMENT BARS are richly pigmented wax drawing bars and painting blocks have the creamy consistency of an oil bar and oil pastels.

The PIGMENT BARS are handmade with a blend of waxes {organic soy & organic beeswax} and a mixture of natural earth pigments and micas. Some have different variations of metallic sheen and multiple pigments. Many of the pigment bars are duotone/tritone, meaning they have two sometimes three colors in one bar.

They have a beautiful, creamy consistency and deposit a lot of color. They can be layered over each other to create vibrant color mixes and blended with a blender bar, your fingers or a brush. They can be used over or under my handmade watercolors, as a resist with watercolor, with water soluble pencils and brushed through with stencils plus a plethora of mixed media techniques.
